A PROPOS DE L'EP : [English below]

Pour la quatrième sortie du label, The Lost Tapes, nous avons convié Steve Frisco, aka DJ Slave, un vieux briscard de la scène de la French Riviera qui a tout connu depuis que le hip-hop est arrivé en France.
Pour The Lost Tapes, nous avons exhumé quatre inédits de Steve. Deux d’entre eux – "Lost Pattern" et "Magnetic Lava" – avaient été injustement oubliés sur de vieilles DAT retrouvées au fond de ses tiroirs, tandis que "The Tables Are Turnin’" et "Found On An Old Tape" ont été composés plus récemment. L’EP nous transporte donc dans deux époques différentes de la carrière de Steve et dévoile également deux facettes de ses talents de producteur.

Avec "Lost Pattern" et "Magnetic Lava", on se plonge dans le versant House de sa riche production. Ces deux morceaux ont été produits en 2013, à l'époque où Steve lançait son label Série Limitée. Il s'en dégage un son fat, ambiance New York after hours avec lumières rouges et néons. Le son - mixé sur une vieille Mackie CR16 - est gras, granuleux et a la patine du temps.

"The Tables Are Turnin’" et "Found On An Old Tape", produits en 2022, illustrent un aspect plus sombre de sa production et transpirent d'une inspiration electro eighties, à laquelle se mêle l'atmosphère des premiers morceaux techno anglais de la toute fin des années 80 et du début de la décennie 90. Ils nous emmènent dans un vol orbital autour de Saturne à bord d'un vaisseau où vogueraient également Drexciya et Cybotron tout en invoquant les esprits du Ouija. Prêts pour l'embarquement ?

ABOUT THE EP:

For the label's fourth release, The Lost Tapes EP, we invited Steve Frisco, aka DJ Slave, a seasoned veteran of the French Riviera music scene who has been active since hip-hop arrived in France.
For The Lost Tapes EP, we dug up four of Steve's previously unreleased tracks. Two of them, "Lost Pattern" and "Magnetic Lava", had been unjustly forgotten on old DAT tapes found at the bottom of his drawers, while "The Tables Are Turnin’" and "Found On An Old Tape" were more recently composed. The EP takes us on a journey through two different eras of Steve's career and reveals two facets of his production talents.

With "Lost Pattern" and "Magnetic Lava", we dive into the House side of his rich production. These two tracks were produced in 2013, when Steve launched his Série Limitée label. The tracks feature a fat danceable bass line, evoking a New York after-hours vibe with red lights and neon signs. The sound - mixed on an old Mackie CR16 - is thick, gritty and rich with the patina of time.

"The Tables Are Turnin’" and "Found On An Old Tape", produced in 2022, showcase a darker aspect of his production and exude an 80s electro inspiration, mixed with the atmosphere of the first English techno tracks from the very end of the 80s and the early 90s. They take us on an orbital flight around Saturn aboard a spaceship with Drexciya and Cybotron, while invoking the spirits of the Ouija. Are you ready for boarding?
